given by C. II. .Marsh In his address
before the Chamber of Commerce
banquet last week. The following
are some of the facts which were
brought out by Mr. -Marsh:
There are nine tunnels agregatlng
in length i:!,H2.t feet, or 2.6 miles.
The road includes ."i'-j miles of
permanent trestles.
There are 2H sie-1 bridges aggre
gating X.124 feet in length, or 1.0
miles.
The amount of steel used was 9,
ino tons.
The Coos Day bridge is one of the
largest in the Northwest. There are
nine l.",n-foot spans, two lsu-foot
spans and a draw 4,",.S ret-t in length.
The draws of the Coos Hay, I'mp
(iua and Siuslaw bridges are all built
so that ocean going vessels can pass
through.
The rmpiiua bridge is l.'lnn feet
long and the Siuslaw bridge fluu feet
long.
A Pital of approximately 4u.nin
cubic yards of concrete was u"'-d for
piers, approaches, clvits, etc.

was used for ties and bridges and
ether buildings and It was bought in
Lane. Iiouglas and Coos counties, the
amounts purchased In each county
was according to the mileage of
track in the county.
The railroad built 1 ."t miles of
roiu!w(,v to take the place of roads
which were us"d for right of way

not absolute!.- necessary for tile rail
road to build all of these roads.
The actual cash outlay of money

and if laid end-to end they would ex
