SALEM, Or., Sept. 5 State Super intendent of Public Instruction Churchill announced today that he will soon have ready for distribution In the schools of the state, report cards which will show the standing, health and aptitude of individual pupils from the time they enter the grades until they entet the high schools. The reports will show the standing of the pupils In all branches so that the teacher can tell at a glance the work accomplished by them In each grade. In addition they will show the condition of the health of the pupil and his aptitude for dif ferent lines of work. Drown, of this city, left for her home this morning. Miss Essie Norrls, who had been spending several weeks at Newport, has returned here. She left for her home at Dillard this morning. E. Payton and daughter, Elma, went to Riddle this morning to attend the barbecue. Mr. Pavton expects to take part in the shooting events. Mrs. C. G. lilayney, Mrs. W. P. Inman and daughter. Miss Marguer ite, of Pomona, Cal., spent the day in Roseburg. They wore registered at a local hotel. Mrs. J. O. Booth and Mrs. Hood, of Grants Pass, who were visiting Hon and Mrs. J. H. Booth In this city laBt evening, after a visit at Eugene, left for their homes this morning. R. D. Mlnter. of Kellogg, who re cently accepted a position as bag- eaeeman at the local Southern ellic depot, arrived here Sunday. Ho will enter upon his new duties to morrow. V. S. Taylor, of Portland, arrived In Roseburg this morning to spend a few days looking after business af fairs. Mr. Taylor has some business to transact before the United States land office and overlooked the fact that this is Labor Day. As a result he will have to remain here until tomorrow. Bishop Edwin Mouzon, of Dallas, Texas, who is holding the Pacific Coast conference of the M. E. Church, South, will be In Roseburg Krldav at 7:30. He will preach In the local M. E. Church, South. Bishop Mouzon Is a great preacher, and everybody Is most cordially Invited to hear him on this occasion. C. L. Barnard, of the Roseburg Marshfield stage lines, reportB a very heavy rain in the canyon west of Camas Valley last night. As a result the roads are quite heavy there. Notwithstand this, however, Mr. Barnard said he believed the au tomobile stages would bo able to reach Mvrtle Point' today without any great' difficulty. S. A. Phillips has moved his tailor shop from the Kohlhag.a building to 109 Rose street, opposite Orand Hotel. Bandon Recorder: Mrs. J. T Bridges, of Oakland, Or.,- arrived hero last night for a visit with her daughter, Mrs. S. C. Endicott. Dr. Endlcott and family drove over to Marshfield yesterday afternoon In their car to meet her, returning last night Joseph W. Coach and John Herron, proprietors of the Cluli saloon, have been summoned into the municipal court, charged with giving liquor to minors. The trial of Coach was set for 9 o'clock this morning and of Herron for 2 o'clock this af ternoon, but both were postponed un til tomorrow. Advertisements for bids for a suitable building In which to conduct the local poBtofflce were posted here Saturday. The bids are to be in the hands of the Postofflce Department by October 2, 1914. The Govern ment desires to lease a building for term of five or ten years. Among I the conditions In the advertisement Is that the building be located In the business dlstrlrt of the city and as central as possible, and have at least 2000 square feet of floor space.
