The Methodist baseball team de--feated
tbe Baptist team last night
by the score of 4 to 3. The Baptists
made a balloon ascension In one In
ning, and tossed the horseblde all
over the field. Meantime the Metho
dists waltxed four runs around tbe
bases. The Baptists did not Ret a
single run until the eighth, and then
scored three runs by a combination
of hard hits and errors. Both Mc
Clintock and Black were In good
form, and outside of one bad Inning,
both teams played splendid baseball.

FOREST FIRE HAGIXG.
MAHSIIFIELD, July 17. News
has reached here of a bad forest fire
which has been raging for the last 48
hours at the McDonald Vaughn log
ging ramp on llluo Rtdgn mountain.
One hundred and twenty-five men
have been righting the rire and It is
now under control. It started by a
spark from a donkey engine Igniting
the underbrush.
Very little timber was damaged,
but about SHI! feet of the trestle and
ties of one of the logging railways
were burned out, which will delay
work for half of the camp, which Is
a lnrgo one.
The foreHts are now dry and the
fire danger season bas begun.
