BTATE PAIR EDIFICE COXTRACT LET FOR $14,700. ' ' N'o Fireworks This Year at Fair, But ' Money Will Go Towmil Better Attractions. Salem Statesman: I.eDoux & Le Doux, contractors, of Portland, were awarded the contract for the con struction of the new pavilion at the state lair grounds, at the meeting of the state fair board yesterday, their bid of Ml. "00 being nearly 12000 lower than that of any of their rumpntitors. As soon as the contract can be drawn up, work on the build ing will be started and rushed thru with all possible speed, the contract ors aereeing to complete the job in 120 days. Plans tor a number of free attrac tions at the fair this fall were also made, It being the Intention of the board to make the exposition this year the biggest in the history of the state. The board voted $1000 for the se curing of a one-ring circus, it being the understanding that Dr. Boyd's show, which was here last year, or some similar attraction, be arranged for. This will be free for the public. It was decided to have a state shoot again this year and $1100 was appropriated for this, the under standing being that it continue through two days. The plan Is to put this in charge of the Salem Gun Club and In a measure take the con ducting of the affair from the should ers of the state fair management. With the local gun club boosting the shoot It Is considered that its suc cess will be assured. The schedule of days was arrang ed and according to it Monday will be Children's day; Tuesday, Women's Club day; Wednesday, Salem day; Thursday, Portland day; Friday.
