the bridge worker who received an
electric shock on the Springfield
bridge several weeks ago and was
I thrown into the river, today sued the
Oregon Power I ompany tor .riU,bu
damages alleged to have been In-
urred in receiving the shock and
fulling oft the bridge.
It will be remembered that Car-
lienter, while assisting to repair the
bridge, came In contact with the Ore
gon Power company s wires ana was
thrown into the swltt water below.
He was unconscious and would have
drowned had not a companion fol
lowed him down stream a short dis
tance on shore and when the oppor
tunity presented, itself swam out and
rescued hint.
Carpenter alleges in his complaint
that on April 15. 19 111. while em
ployed by the Coast llrldge Com
pany as structural iron worker lie
nine in contact with the defendant a
ires on top of the bridge. He al
leges that the defendant was careless
and negligently failed to Insulate the
wires lit all the points ou the bridge
iind that the wires carried 1 1,60(1
volts of electricity. Ho says be
stepped between the wires and re
ceived a shock, causing him to fall
across the wires and that ho dropped
SO feet Into the water. He says he
received bad burns on one leg, one
arm anil on his hands, that he re
el ved a big gash on his bead, was
burned on different parts of his body
and received bad cuts and bruises.
He alleges that on account of the in
juries he will never be able to work
at the trade of structural iron work-
