Editor Koseburg Review;
Examining our notes and letters,
we fiud that we promised you an-
other letter describing our trip In
Florence and the surrounding coun
try. To fulfill that promise, we here
with Mend you these few observa
tions. We were very unfortunate In se
lecting the Jennings Fenslone In
Moreuce, which Is conducted by two
wealthy Amelrcan women. The meals
and the w ine were good, but oh! the I

times ( H cents) was made for It.
Ilulf the night we were up to chase
mowqultoes, so as to he sure that we
eould leave the room alive in the
morning. The river Arno, we sup
pose, Is the cause of the mosquito
pest, on account that almost all the
water in the river bed Is used for
commercial purposes, and what re
mains is stagnant and in pools.
We like Florence, but we think
that there are many other Italian
cities better and cleaner for tourists
to see.
Our trip would not have been
complete If we Hhuuld have omitted
a visit to the Villa Halmlerf, on the
way to rlesola, famous for Its asso
ciation with Hoccaccio. During the
plague in Florence in 1 348, It is
said that Hoccaccio hud spent many
agreeable days here, In company with
a number of ladles and gentlemen.

"Decameron. ' When at Florence
Queen Victoria made her stopping
place ut this villa when It was owned
by uu Kngllsh family named Craw
ford. Today it Is owned by an
American, Mr. Ellsworth, who has
done much to beautify the grounds
and the villa itself. The fresoes por-
truying Hoccaccio s wedding feast
have been restored with care and
taste, and the garden is among the
most beuutiful in Europe.
Fortunate are those who are fav
ored with an Invitation to enjoy Mr.
Kllsworth's hospitality In Villa Pal
mlerl. for to see the garden and the
villa is worth alone a journey to,
Italy.
As we were driving to Hesole, we
parsed the Villa Houdi. which was
pointed out to uh as once belonging
to Dante, and here it was that when
a young man he spent much of his
ime rhyming, it ml t bought himself
'how to make himself Immortal."

We took the train from Florence

to make the trip. This rliy used to

fell under the Lombard Kings afler
the Kmplrc, and later subjected to

Home Bakihd Reduces
THE U. S. Dept. of Agriculture in Experiment Station Bulletin
No. 142 says that ten cents worth of wheat supplies almost
three times as much protein and ten times as much energy as
round steak, and with some other cuts of meat the difference is
even greater.
If then, one really desires to reduce her weekly meat and grocery
bills, she need only make more use of her oven.
Who ever heard man, woman or child complain that good home-made
biscuits, muffins, cake and cookies appeared on the table too often? Instead the
tendency is "to make a meal of them" and the variety is so great that something
you bake yourself Could well be the chief feature of every meal.
Home Baking is Simplified by
the Use of K C Baking Powder
With K C, you can mak things moist and rich yet hare them
light and feathery, wholesome and digestible. Biscuits may be mixed
the -night before and baked fresh for breakfast. Muffins need not
be dry and heavy. You can make cake so light that you can
hardly get it out of the pan whole, yet It will not fall.
K C la not like the old fashioned baking powders. It Is double
acting and continues to give off leavening gas until the dough is
cooked through. K C is sold at a fair price a large can for 25
cents. This would be no object If strength and purity were sacri
ficed, but every can is fully guaranteed under State and National
Pure Food laws and to pleaie. We take all the chances. Your
money back if you do not get better results with K C than any
baking powder you ever used.
Includes can in your nest grocery order, try some of tht new
recipes that appear In this paper from time to time. Then you will
have gone far toward solving this vexing "Cost of Living' problem.
