The Iden tity of the box of Albert I). J. Cashier, Civil War veteran and an Inmate of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Hume, was revealed today by Colonel J. O. An derson, puiwrintendeut of the home here, to be feminine. The woman, whose real name probably never will bd known, beeatise recently Bhe be came demented, served three yars In the I'nlon Army during the Civil War, as shown by records. She was born in Ireland, December 2.".. 1844. but the place of her birth Is not known. It Is thought by offi cials of the home board that she ran away from home and came to the United States dressed in boy's cloth ing, a stowaway on a British vessel. She enlisted in Company U, Ninety fifth Illinois Infantry, May 4, 1862. The regiment to which Bhe belonged was stationed In the South during the last three yeurB of the war, and she was actively engaged In several Im portant battles, among them the siege aguinst Hood s forces In Ten nessee, In which more than half of Company U were killed. The revela tion of the identity of her sex was niado two years ago in Livingston County, Illinois, where she was em ployed as a chaffeur. One day the chalfeur crawled under the car, which started suddenly and the wheels of the ear passed over her, breaking her right leg. When ahe was taken to a hospital It was dis covered that she was a woman. Often we have several different kinds of cold meuta leftt with not enough of any ono kind for a particular purpcie. Quo con use these several kinds putting them through the food chopper, using two cups of this chopped meat, seasoning as desired. Use only baes esnooiallv mada for cooking. 2. Alwavs stream the entire inaide sur face of the bog for meats and pastries. 3. Lay bag on the pan seam aide up. 4. Always pin the mouth of the baa securely. 6. In & Kaa oven place the bag on the prate of the broiler pan, placing the broiler pan in the upper oven. 6. Above all don't have a hot oven: it burns the bag and makes it brittle and easily broken. Have slow even beat for bag cooking. Remember food cooked in bags will oook more quickly and with less heat. 7. All kinds of meat, fuh and fowl are excellent cooked in bags, all the natural flavor and Juices being retained. Place the meat, fisn or fowl in the well oiled bag, lifting, the oven directions above. Allow 15 minutes to each pound. 8. For all kinds of pastry, I recom mend tho use of K C Baking Powder, esHcially where slow baking id required.
