Rowe, daughter of u client whom he wus there to see on au im portant business deal. Mr. Myers, who is now weulthy, has been taking things easy for the past year, and will continue to do so. Soon he and Mrs. Myers will go to Panama on a trip. Mr. MyerB gained quite a reputation as the bead of the Oregon Commis sion of the Lewis and Clark exposi tion. Rev. Marlon Capps, a Methodist preacher, was convicted and sen tenced to death by a Jury In the Cir cuit Court here tonight, on the charge of having burned to death his three motherless children. The de fendant appeared unconcerned when the verdict was read, Capps was charged with having tied his three children to an oil-soaked bed which he set on fire. Two of the children perished In the flames, while the third died after escaping from the house. A daughter, Bertha, aged 15, and a son, Ellle, aged 14, who recovered from the injuries, testified agaiuat their father. They say that when they were awakened by the fire, they found that they had been tied to their bedB. They were forced to wait until the flames burned the ropeB before they could escape, they said.
