where we pushed a pole down Into
the muck some 12 feet, finding no
bottom. The survey here shows tt

pondent is satisfied that this Is by
long odds the richest soil he has ever
soon, and lost no time In selecting a
20-uure tract at this point. As soon
as one or more laterals are dug, cul
tivation can be begun here without
danger ot overflowing, and its possi
bilities aro almost Incalculable.
Near the Hotel Okeechobee are the
P. U. Rita and a small general store,
which Is a great help to the people
there. There Is no doubt that In a
few years a thriving little city will
Bprtng up as It will be necessary when
these vast stretches of laud, "rich
beyond the dreams of avarice," are
put into extensive cultivation.
