While we realize that the business houses of the town have about all the tax bur den they can cany, the most of them will admit that they could better af ford to pay a little more city license for the coining year than to have the city improvement work end with the completion of the present contracts, or those for which the work Is al readv blocked out. Regardless of what the knocker may do or Bay, The Review is for progress all the time, and now, as In the past, Is only en deavoring to keep the Improvement work going. We would be more than glad to see this accomplished without any Increase In taxes, but realizing tiiat to be practically Impossible, we are willing to submit to an added lax burden for the coming year In order that the town may continue to advance. And a vast majority of the citizens will doubtless concur in this view or the present conditions. If it can possibly be done, the city'b progress and growth must be con tinued. Colonel Theodore Itoosevelt may engage In another bunting expedition, this time In the wllds of South America. The president of Brazil recently Bent a cordial invitation to the Colonel to visit his country, enjoy the hospi tallty which he and other dlstln gulshed Brazilians would be pleased to offer, and then proceed up the Amazon River into the wilderness where big game abounds. The Colonel in his reply expressed regret that he could not at thia time accept tho Invitation. He pointed out that he would be occupied for some time in the organization of the Progressive party, but, if possible, he would go to Brazil next Bummer. The fuuna of Brazil contains many animals of scientific Interest. The jaguar Is hunted in the most cour ageous manner in the Amazonian for ests. The native hunter, armed only with a long knife and a Btout wooden fork with two prongs, approaches the cat. The animal springs and Is caught on the fork. The hunter must at once drive his knife into the heart of his prey or he is lost. The numerouB family of felines in Brazil includeB the puma, ocelot and wild cat. Among the other quadrupeds are the guara, wolf, fox, marten, ot ter, beaver, klnkajou. gamba, Irara, sloat nnd anteater.
