Madrigal Quartet, directed by Prof.
G. A. Fory. An exceptionally fine
program has bevn arranged, and one
of the biggest musical successes of

The program to be rendered is one
that requires the versatility of an
artist for Its successful rendition. In
operatic aria, Scotch ballad or melo

Ilardelot, Miss Sloane Is equally at
home. She sings with dramatic fer
vor in the aruiB from grand opera,
in which she Is at her best, and showB
the effect of the finished training

Mrs. .1. E. Perkins returned to
Portland this afternoon, after a visit
here at the home of her son. J. W.
Perkins, who goes down to Portland
next week on a return visit, accom
panied by Mrs. Perkins.
Roy Griggs, of Comstock, Is at
Yoncalla to assist In appraising some
of the truipqun Indian Reservation,
he having been appointed to assist
Messrs. Porter nnd Applegate. A Mr.
Chenoweth, an Umpnua IndiaTt, is in
Jail at Klamath Falls charged with
murder, and his part of the reser
vation Is being sold to get funds to
defend him.
A. A. Wilder has sold his hand
some bungalow on South Stephens
street to Fred Chapman, the drug
gist. Mr. Wilder lenves soon for Cor-
vallls, where he will take personal
charge of a gents' furnishing store
recently bought by him and his part
ner, Roland Agee, who will continue
in chnrge of their Roseburg store.
The Elks' lodge of Roseburg Is to
have a suite of club rooms, according
to the sentiment of 120 of the mem
bers expressed over their signatures.
The project has been on foot for
some time. It was at first thought
that the present armory, on the lower
floor of the Elks' temple, would be
converted Into the club quarters, but
lately the belief prevails that an ad
ditional story will be erected on the
building for that purpose.
