All predictions of a Democratic landslide in the National election were fulfilled yesterday, when Wood roiv w ilson and Thomas K. Marshall, candidates for President and Vice- President, were swept into office by a tremendous majority. At this hour Wilson is known to have carried no less than :i:i of the 4S states. Roose velt Rut the electoral votes of five states, Taft those of four states, while the results in the remaining seven states are still in doubt. On the face of this standing, Wilson will at least have 399 votes in the elec toral college, or 133 more than neces sary to elect. Listed in the doubtful states are Oregon, California, N'ew Hampshire. South Dakota, Pennsylvania, Wyom ing and West Virginia. The total ag gregate electoral vote of these states is (ill, or which Pennsylvania has 38. The count here is close between Wil son and Kooscvclt, with predictions that the latter will win. In Califor nia the race la equally as close, Wil son leading In the larger cities. In cluding San Francisco, hut running behind ill the country districts. New Hampshire and Wyoming are regard ed as Taft states. South Dakota is epected to return a majority for Roosevelt. Slates for Wilson. Wilson carried the following slates: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas. At midnight accurale reports from 12 counties in Oregon Indicated that the state bad swung against single tax by a vote of from two to one to twelve lo one, while in the county of Mullioniah graduated single tax goes down to defeat by an overwhelming majority and the county measure by over two to one. No reports were re ceived rrom single tax In eilher Clackamas or Coos counties. Mult nomah County is running fairly even on the measure to repeal Hie U'Ren amendment, while In the state nt large the majority in its favor is two to one. it will probably carry by n considerable majority, while not so laree a the one against single tax. Chair man E. C. Snyder, of the Progres sives, stated early this morning that the state had gone for Roosevelt by 40,000. The Republicans concede that Roosevelt has carried Seattle, Taeoma and Spokane and has a plu rality in nearly every county. Kor Governor, Lister, Democrat, leads Governor Hay, Republican, Hodge, Progressive, Is third. The result of the Governorship Ib in doubt. Latest returns Bhow that Hodge Is gaining over Lister and Hay running third. Lister has a small lead, according to present returns. The Progressives are claiming the election of Dan London over Humph rey. Republican, for Congress. In dications are that Lister will bo elected by a margin of fiOOO. INCENDIARY AT WORK IN SII'SI.AW DISTRICT. The barn on the Lawson ranch on Duncan siougli was burned Wednes day morning, together Willi eight or ten tons of hay. Four bead of cows that were In the barn al the time perished. Tho slock and hay belonged to Samuel Lopporl, who has the place rented. The loss Tails heavily on him, ns the cows were good ones. The fire occurred about 2 o'clock in the morning uud was undoubtedly the work of an Incendiary. It was first seen by Mr. I.eppen's daughter and her husband, who are living in Hie Lawson house. Summarized flgurea at that hour either assured or Indicated the election of the candidates listed above. The equal suffrage and coun ty high school fund measures ap peared to be In doubt, but It was pre dicted that the suffrage bill would win by not less than 200 when all re turns were In. The bill for the aboli tion of capital punishment and the graduated single tax measure have been defeated at least 2 to 1. Re sults on other measures can only be guessed at. For President, Wilson seems to have carried the county by about 300, with Tuft and Roosevelt In doubt as to second place. Lane and Selling aro running neck and neck for Uni ted States Senator, with the Repub lican candidate In the lead by about fill. Ronnie was a poor third. llaw ley has a1 majority of not less than 11(10 in the county for re-election to Congress. Robert O. Smith, Demo crat, is running second nnd John W. Campbell, the Roseburg Progressive, Is third. Hen W. Olcott, Republican candidate fur Secretary of State, Is running far ahead of the party ticket. EstlliiuUMl Majorities. In the county ticket, the Demo crats mude a net gain of one official In the results. Thurman Chaney, Democratic Incumbent In the school superintendent's office, was defeated for re-election by O. C. Brown, Re publican, whoso majority may reach 800. This party loss Is balanced by the defeat of County Commissloner M. R. Rynn, Republican, who will be succeeded by E. II. Plnkston, Demo crat. Returns point to a majority for Plnkston of about 200. The Democrats have gained one membor of the Legislature by the apparent success of Rev. J. K. Howard, of Glendulo, who was defeated two years ago. Howard has probably defeated J. T. ltrldges, of Oakland, who seems to hnve fared ns iioorly at the hands of the Republicans as Dr. E. V. Hoover did nt the hands of the Demo crats. Howard's colleague in the Legislature will be B. F. Nichols, Re publican, of Riddle, who has a big plurality. For Slate Senntor, George Neuner, present Representative, and Repub lican, has defeated F. B. Walte, Democrat, by more than 2 to 1. Sheriff George K. Qulne, Repub lican, has been re-elected over B. Fenton, Democrat, by a majority ei (limited at 400. Lenox, Calkins, Cain.
