Those nomadic bands of Mexican
guerillas are no respecters of per
sons. One of the bands nctually
robbed "Tiller Hill" Graham the
other day. but they failed to diminish
his supply of cheerful optimism or
destroy his faith in Mexico as a fu
ture money making field for Ameri
cans. Writing to The Review from
El Paso, Texas, untler date of Sep
tember 10, Hill tells the story In part
like this:
"I was thoroughly robbed. No
harm was offered to any of us, but
wo had to stand by and see the
thieves carry away every thing on
the place. They took my wagon and
team nnd hauled away my oxtra sup
ply of provisions, took most every
thing they wanted nnd many things
they did not need or could use. They
grabbed all my clothes, too. Sure,
it would bo comical to see a little,
narrow contracted Mexican wear a
pair of my pants. They took all our
jewelry and watches, four mules and
three horses.
"Hut I will got fully reimbursed
from the Mexican government. The
total as far as 1 have figured up
amounts to $3844.50, Mexican
money.
"I have been traveling back and
forth on hand cars lately, as they
don't run the trains now. It was re
ported I was run out of Mexico. Peo
ple of Oregon know I am too fat and
lazy to run. I expect to go back In

for people here and doing nicely. Hut I
1 would like to go back there and!
will do so as 'soon as I can. The
outlaws have caused many people to
leave their homes in Mexico. It will
soon nil be over, however. Mexico Is
sure a good country and many oppor

there. j
