The returns from the poultry Indus
try at this point are worth consider
ing. Our local merchants have

price paid has been better than 20
cents per dozen, to place the average
price at 2U cents-per dozen would
mean $10,0uo yenrly from eggs. Dur
ing the year 1 it 11 more than $:i000
worth of turkeys were shipped from
Myrtle Creek and this year promises
to do even h; tter. With what other
poultry is shipped out in the course
of a year tiie total for eggs and
poultry wilt now amount to at least
$1 4,000 yearly.
School District Owns Cemetery.
The Myrtle Creek school district
probably bears Ihe distinction of be
ing tho only one In Oregon which
owns a graveyard. It Is not an ex
clusive cemetery for the use of school
dignitaries, hut some of the oldest
pioneer ell izens are buried In it.
Several years ago the person owning
the land surrounding the cemetery
no Id out and moved away. Wishing
to protect the remains of the people
hurled therein, he got the school
hoard to accept a deed to the ceme
tery. This is the oldest burying
ground In this vicinity, and by the
Hchool district assuming nominal au
thority over It those who have rela
tives burled there are assured tha
their graves will not be disturbed.
