The niHKnlficent new club rooms and lodge bull, boused In a building of which the whole city la proud, are being dedi cated with appropriate exercises. Ex tensive preparatlona bave been mudo for this event for weeks past by the members of the local lodge, and suc cess haa crowned their efforts. The day Is ideal, the program of the af ternoon Is being carried out to the satisfaction of all, and there are hundreds of visitors, perhaps more than a thousand, here to accept the hospitality of the Eugene lodge and of the people of tbe city In general. The streets and business housea are elaborately decorated with the pretty colore of tbe order, purple and white, and In aoine Instances they are very unique and out of the ordluury, not to aay startling. Roaeburg baa sent a hundred or more members of the order and their ladies, Portland will have a special train, and another one will bring the "Best People on Earth" from tialem and Albany. . These trains will arrive between 5 and 8 o'clock this evening. Every lodge In tbe state will be represented. The hotels are filled wltb the visitors and the city Is crowded with the Uveal bunch of Oregon citizens ever gathered together la this part of the state. The exercises being held In the Klka' building this afternoon are open to the public, and thouaanda of Eugene's citizens, who bave beard so much of the beauty of tbe lodge quarters, are taking advantage of the luvltutlun to visit tbem. Nobody Is, disappointed. The moat sanguine ex pectations of the moat optimistic are even exceeded. Many are the expres alona of delight and admiration on all sides at the lavish decorations of flowers and colors and at tbe mag nificent furnishings of the quarters. Tonight the dedication exercises proper will be held In the lodge hall. The exercises will be only for Elks and their ladles, as It Is felt that If the public were Invited there would be such a crush that It would be Im possible to carry out the program. I Afler the ritualistic ceremonies ot ! the lodge are carried out and ad I dresses delivered by Exalted Ruler I K. I.. Barker, of the local lodge, and I Hon. J. M, Oearln, of Portland, In terspersed with musical numbers, the ' dedication ball will be held In the 1 armory across the street from the I new building. At the same time a first-class vaudeville performance will be given by a troupe from the Pantuges circuit. The Elks and their 1 ladles will be privileged to attend i either or both as they see fit. In the 'lodge building the 11 o'clock toast will be given by Attorney Kalpn t Moody, ot Portland, and at the ball by Judge J. W. Hamilton, or Rose burg. The festivities will continue till midnight, and the several excur sion trains will leave soon there after. Interior of Building. The Elks hall and club roomr which are today formally dedicated have been furnished at a cost or about f 14.000, for furnishing mid carpets. The floors of the hall, ante rooms, paraphernulla room with kit chen and pantry, are covered with tbe beat quality of Uneoleum. The request of th Commercial Club that folks witli autos volunteer, was generously re sponded to, aud never in Its previous hlHtory has Kugene had such a mag nificent array of gaily decorated ve hicles as that which lined up to greet the "Hills" from the Bouth. The Ku gene band played Its liveliest airs us the line of hoys with gay caps of green, white and red trooped to the autos which brought them to the Osburn hotel. To advertise the Kosebnrg carnival of strawberries and roses which will be held on May 16, 17 aud IS, the excursionists from that city had printed the following song which was rendered at various times during the day: (Air "A Stein Song.")
