and then reduced 25 per cent were
exceedingly faulty. The Senator w ho
proposed the reductions said that he
hud secured the services of a statis
tician at the Treasury Department,
who hud duuo the work as he told
hlra to do it, and that that was all
he knew about It.

passage of the bill, In the amend
ments, and In the general treatmen
