Ovans called "Doctor, twice aud then Or. l.owe, who had been locked out and had entered hy way of the window, asked him what he wanted. Kvans told him ho was an ollicer aud showed his star. Or. Lowe had drawn a bend on Kvans with his re volver, thinking the ollicer was prowler, aud was about to shoot, when he saw the slur glistening in the darkness. Kvans also had his revolver drawn and wuh ready, to shoot at Dr. Lowe, thinking he was u burglar.
