EVENING ROSEBDRC REVIEW SEPTEMBER 1, 1011. THE ISTHMIAN CANAL. Tbe moBt stupendous enterprise Of all achievements made Which surely will the world surprise And speed the cause of trade. All nations will their-tribute bring To that important Zone, And ot its mighty conquests sing, When this great work Is done.- . An educator In our day, Which we will celebrate Near San Francisco's famous bay, Close by the Golden Gate. - ' No doubt that France will recognize Our ardor and our zeal, And laud our victory to the skies And mutual Interests feel. The key to two gieat oceans wide. An entrance to the seas, Where ebbs and flows proud ocean's tide, Amidst the bracing breeze. Not 3lnce the city's towering domea, Which was consumed In flame. Where many thousands 'lost their homes, Renched such a height of fame. With all the talent of the world Drawn to the Golden West, In nations ships with flags unfurled, Containing all their best. In that great day of progress rare We'll feel a throb within, And see the workB of nations there. And all their graces win. L. C. HILL. Funeral designs to order. Prices right. Mrs. F. D.
