ThnuuundK yea, hundreds of
thousands of votes, and ev?n worse,
thun that nearly thrH uuartera of
n million votes went into the ballot
box with a rrr-sh, anil thoy were for
Mis .Madge .Miller.
Hut, great Scott, don't be fili;lit
ened. Mi:8 Miller lr, indeed to lie
congratulated for the gain she lias
made think of it, she has over a
million votes to Iter credit now. Will
this popular candidate have enough
to win Saturday uighl? She has a
ionltlc lead now, but when the re
serve forces or her competitors lire
Jammed into the box there may bo
another leader, und a final one. This, j
Miss Miller, is to tell you not to bti
satisfied. Keep up your pace , and
gather in every vote you can. if
you Bhould win by a million you
iwoiild be thoroughly satislied; if
you should lose by ten votes -well,
lot's not talk about such nplcasaut
things.
The judges performed their Mist
duty this morning by inspecting and
locking the ballot boxes. They were
locked by Mayor F. W. Haynes.
The contest editor, in the presence
of the judges who were here, emptied
the ballot box and counted the bal
lots. The standing of the candidates
is printed above. The contest edi
tor's responsibility is over with; he
will count 110 more votes. All the
ballots that may be cast rrom 10 o'
clock this morning until the close
of the contest will be counted by the
live judges.
The key of the ballot box contain
ing the ballots that have already
been polled was turned over to Mayor
Haynes, and the ballot box contain
ing the ballots that may be polled
from 10 o'clock tills morning until
the close of the greatest contest ever
held In this section of the country,
was also locked. Mayor Haynes like
wise locked this box and the key
was turned over to him.
As soon as all the candidates who
are Inside the doors at to o'clock
tomorrow night have given in their
subscripiions and received votes
therefor, and as soon us the saino are
polled. Mayor Haynes will draw tiro
key iroiu his pocket and open the
ballot box for the tinal count.
There will be but two winners
will one of them be you? It's any
persons race right now, so don't for
a minute get discouraged. Think
of the massive crowd of eager people
that will crowd nnd push their way
Into tlie Iteview office tomorrow
night. As a whole they have as much
faith in you ns nny candidate In this
snuggle fur the jilflO Ford touring
car or the $250 lot In Miller's Addi
tion. li it was a one-sided race there
would be no Interest and not n hand
ful of people inside our doors to
morrow night. Hut the public is
alive with interest, more so than
they have been Interested In any pub
lic affair ever held in this county.
They are interested because they are
baffled as to who" will win. Not
even the contest editor has the slight
est Idea. The votes that you have
in reserve have been forgotten by
the contest editor, but he does know
that you all have done about an
even amount of hustling.
That Is the reason for saying that
everyone is on an equal footing even
today, and you who expect to win w'.l
have to crack the whip with a simp
that will be hoard all over the
county If you want to have the most
votes.
He the leader after 10 o'clock to
morrow night be the lender hy one
vote that's all, that Is necessary,
.lust do this much and you nnd your
friends will pile Into the big Kord
louring car that you can cull YOUR
OWN.
"YOl'R OWN," two words that In
reality means one more vote than
your closest competitor." A $900
Kord touring car for one vole.
