day. Votes piled In from every di
rection and every candidate ilk. the
roll of honor added thousands of
votes to her total except Miss Sadie
Smith, of Oakland.
It was. a banner day for the con
test. Candidates seem to realize that
the end ls-close at hand, and a pitched
battle for first position Is - being
waged.
While tho polling of votes today
was heavy, the race Is as close as it
ever was.
A 900 Ford touring car, by the
closest margin ever recorded in a
contest. Is In the hands of Mrs. Alma
Harness at the present time.
Just 573 votes separates Mrs. J.
Wendell Wright from Mrs. Harness'
claim. Mrs. Harness' gain today is
19,310 votes, while that of .Mis.
Wright Is 819").
Miss Madge Miller, who has been
holding third position for the past
several days, was obliged to retreat
to fourth place, under a heavy, volley
of votes from Miss Meda Tracy, of
Drain. Drain's popular candidate
polled tho largest number of votes
today, but at the same time advanced
but one point. Miss Tracy polled
over 26,000 votes.

0. Zurcher, president of tho Ladles
Auxiliary, with the compliments of
Mr. Nutt. The surprise of the ladies
is only equalled by their very high
appreciation of this beautiful gift
from Mr. Nutt on behalf of the party
with whom he recently toured this
state. The occasion of the visit of
these gentlemen to Rosehurg is evi
dently pleasantly remembered by
them, and It certainly Is by those who
helped to entertain them while here.
