Sutherlln' new Presbyterian church, which waa recently com pleted at a coat of approximately (3600, will be formally dedicated next Sunday, on which occasion Dr. W. S. Holt, of Portland, and several ministers of the church from adjolu lng towns will be present. Mrs. K. F. Eastman and daughter. Miss Myrtle Eastmans mother and stBler of Mrs. W. W. Taylor, arrived in Sutberlin Monday for an extended visit at the home of the latter. C. W. Prater, of Clearwater, Neb., father of Mrs. T. E. Henderson, is visiting at the home of the latter northwest of town. O. J. Reynolds sold his plumbing business lust Wednesday to F. HI. Smith, who will conduct the business in the future. Mr. Smith will erect a substantial building at the front of hia present business on Central avenue. Mr. and Mrs. ReynoldB contemplate locating in California. Glenn Taylor, who has been in the clerical department of the Luse Land A Development Co. the past two years, will leave in a few days for a visit with his parents in Travel-, low . Mr. Taylor does not expect to return to Sutberlin in the near future, but will probably return o Oregon next fall to accept a position tendered him In the northern part of the Btute. His successor here is L. A. Payne, of Hastings, Neb., who visited Sutherlln about a year ago and purchased two' fruit, tracts and several residence and business lots. It is understood he will build a mod ern resldence-here during the present summer. On July 1 the city of Sutherlln took over the water . works system which was installed by the Luse Land A Development Co., and wbich bus been under the supervision of the company since the town was started early two years ago. The police have no clew. As a result of eating too many strawberries and berries that were not all ripe, the 3-year-old sou of W. C. Young, of Springfield, died Thurs day in pain and convulsions. H. C. Hatham, ex-Fruit Inspector of Josephine County, has been in dicted by the grand Jury on a charge of attack on Lois Hall, the 12-year-old daughter of W. C. Hall, Becretary of the Rogue River Lumber Company. Batham appeared in court upon a bench warrant and his bail was fixed at $1000. He is married and lives with his wife and two adopted daughters. This meeting is not held by any local union but is for the benefit of every fruitgrower in the county. Orchard demonstrations will be made here by experts from the Agricultural College.
