and setbacks that have fallen to my

those of thousands of business men
who have risen to far greater promi
nence In life than I. The public Is

deeds and actions, by bis true merit
not by what he says of himself. This

about one's personal experiences al
ways reminds me of a redbot Metho
dist who stands up In a prayer meeting
and rehearses the trials and tribula

reach the desired goal."
Greets Senator Gallinger.
While touring the state one summer
Senator and Mrs. (ialllnger visited
Keeue. N. II.. and. learning that
Thompson was at his home in Swan
aey. the senator expressed a wish to
meet him off the stage. One morning
a friend of Thompson drove the sena
tor to Thompson's home. Thompson
came out without a cont or hat. hands
behind bis bock. The following con
versation ensued:

Blll-Ilow are you. Den? Mr. Thomp
son. 1 want to Introduce Senator and
Mrs. Gallinger.
Senator Gallinger Mr. Thompson, 1
have witnessed your great production
many times and always with the great
est pleasure, but I want to say It Is
with still greater pleasure tbat I am
permitted to greet you In your beauti
ful home.

bers of his company, especially the lit

one engagement he wanted to coiupli-
