He is one of the owners of the Overland Orchards. After traveling the world over, Dr. Sperry says that Garden Valley Is the most beautiful small valley he has ever seen. The Hperry glacier in tlie nw Glacier National Park, wa dis covered by Dr. Sperry and named for him. A new protection against rabbits is being used in tho valley at the suggestion of Mr. Carson. A piece of cheap, yellow laundry soap the size of a marble is worked up soft and crowded down Into tho crotch of the young tree, moulding It into position ho that it will be sure to -itick. The rains and fogs cause little soapy water to run down the trunk of the tree. The rabbit is very fastidious nnd abhors the taste and smell of soap. A single cake of soap will treat eighty to one hundred trees. Mr. Carson says this method has Droved very successful In his exnerlence. J. H. Booth is planting a part or hla 40-aere tract In Garden Valley this week. Part of It is to be left wooded and used hy Mr. Booth as a private park. The Overland Com pany Is doing the work.
