In other word, the fees received and the in come from other business transacted have, been sufficient to pa the sal aries of the clerk and all bla depu ties and the other current expense of the office and still left a net bal ance of near 14000. which ha been turned Into the county treasury in the past 27 months. .Thus nnder the careful management of Mr. Lenox the county clerk' office. ha not re quired a cent of tbe taxpayer' mon ey for ,11a maintenance,, but on the other band It baa been a producer of revenue for their benefit. In leu careful or Inexperienced bands tbe balance would probably have been on the other side? of tbe ledger, with the taxpayers footing the bill. Yet. they, are both actively supporting Judge Burnett, who 1 just completing his third term a Circuit Judge and whose record on the bench la several point below that of Judge Hamilton'.. It is a roaring farce for the OUy N'ews :o talk about "nailing a campaign He" when It tci not. In a ing!e in stance, adhered to the truth in Its nght against Judge Hamilton. Re peating our former advice to that Hhset, we urge them to keep np their ridiculous assault upon Judge Ham ilton, a it will assure him over 1000 majority in this county. It Is also a safe bet that he will carry every county In tbe district. As a matter of fact this fight on Judge Hamilton ia doubly ridiculous. Both Mr. Abra ham and the Oily News know that they cannot beat him and their only real hope Is to defeat Judge Coke so a to get a Judge of their own stripe on tbe bench. Just bow that would help them Ia not known, for if Mr. Jonea were elected he would have to move to Coo or Curry county to reside. Mr. Abraham trie to further befog tbe issue by saying that Judge Hamilton opposed the creation of the office which Judge Coke now holds. It Is true that daring tbe last session of tbe Legislature both Judge Harris and Judge Hamilton Issued statements that In their belief a third Judge was not then necessary In thia district. The Legislature thought differently and tbe new Judgshlp was created. Now it I a ten to one proposition that Mr. Abraham and the Oily New will not oppose Judge Harris for re-election in 1912. Neither of them will dare to go on record now as saying that tbey will fight Judge Harris two years hence. Judge Hamilton ha saved many thousands of dollars to the taxpayer of thia district during his Incum bency of the office of Circuit Judge and hi re-election 1 fully assured. Forced to Leave Home. Eugene Guard: There will be no local option election In Lane county after all the talk, for the reason that there were not enough name of registered voters on the petition filed with tbe county clerk a few day ago. In checking them over County Clerk Lee found only the name of 377 registered voters out of the &67 names on the petition. The annual colt show of the Drain Percheron Horse Company was neid here today, with a large attend ance. The number of horses entered exceeded that of any previous show and the standard of the colts were Better tnan ever berore.
