Plnchot, ex-Chief Forester under
Theodore Roosevelt, took a plane to
day upon the list of possible candi
dates for the Republican nomination
for Governor of New York, and Theo
dore Roosevelt was asked to support
his candidacy.
While the -ei-Presldent has not
said anything that In any way re
sembles an outspoken declaration In
favor of any candidate, tt Is believed
that he does not look unkindly upon
the boom.
Dr. Samuel McCune Lindsay, ex
nommlssloner of Education of Porto
Rico, and now a professor of Colum
bia University. Is the man who
launched the boom. He had a long
and confidential talk today with Col.
Roosevelt, and left with the air of
a man well pleased with 'the turn
things had taken.

the Mazama expedition under the
ausplceB of the Portland Oregonian
and New York Herald, which set out
last April to ascend Mt. McKlnley
and which turned bnck unsuccessful,

age of 75 years, yesterday upset all
traditions of the comic papers by
wedding bis mother-in-law, 68 years
old. while the thermometer stood

His bride, before the wedding, was
Mrs. Elizabeth Fuchs. whose daugh
ter divorced Krlntz several years
ago. Doth live in Oskaloosa, 111
Krlntz Is a fanner. Friends of the
two are trying to figure out just
what Krlntz Ib to Ills wife. The
former Mrs. Krlntz now becomes his
stepdaughter. So far It Is easy, hut
the other possible relationships
among the three are puzzling to the
good folks of Oskaloosa.
