Strawberries by the crate on April
22. That Is Douglas county's record
this year eight days earlier than
last season's first picking. However,
this county leads all the rest of the
state every year when It comes to
producing the earliest fruits and
berries. As to the quality there are
nono finer than the Douglas county
product. With the earliest spring
Beason. as welt as the best all the
year 'round cllmnte In the state, to
gether with Its splendid soil and
land still very reasonable In price,
we should get several thousand new
' people this season, to locate and

Notice is heraby given that on the
11th day of April. 1910, the Common
Council of the City of Roseburg,
adopted tho following resolutions:
"Be it resolved by the Common
Council of the City of Roseburg,
Oregon, That It is necessary and
expedient to construct a twenty-four
Inch (24 Inch) sewer, In said City
of Roseburg, Oregon, beginning at a
point ou the west line of Kane street
rnd running thence to the east bank
of the South Unipqua River, as
shown by the plans and specifica
tions of the City Knglneer, filed in
the office of the City Recorder, on
the 16th day of August, 1909.
"That the Common Council of the
City of Roseburg, hereby declares Its
Intention nnd purpose to construct
said sewer In accordance with the
plans and specifications of the City
Knglneer, filed In the office of the
City Recorder ns aforesaid, which
plans and specifications and esti
mates of the probable cost are here
by approved and adopted; and to
assess the cost thereof to the prop
erty especially benefitted thereby,
except that the City of Roseburg
shall pay 50 per cent of the assess
ment, against each respective lot,
lots or parcels of land, for the con
struction of said sewer, to be allowed
the owner thereof who shall grant
unto the City of Roseburg a right of
way for said sewer pipe lino. That
said estimated cost is the sum of
:1SS5.95."
Now, therefore, the owner or own
ers of any property to be affected by
said proposed sewer are hereby noti
fied to file their written reinon
st ranees, if any, against said con
struction with tho Recorder within
twenty (20) days from tho date of
the first publication of this notice,
which Is April 12, 1910, which said
remonstrances. If any, will be con
sidered by the Council before any
order Is made authorizing the con
struction of said sower.
