The Clark & ilenery Company, of Sacramento, which has secured the contract, bid on Class A pavement. $1.76 a Briuuro yard, on excavation 65 cents a cubic yard, on curbing 40 cents, on R-lnch cast-iron pipe $L, on 6-Inch "V" sewer pipe 50 cents, on 8-lnch cast-Iron pipe $1.35, on 8-Inch sewer pipe 6 5 cents, on catch basliiH $21, on meter cntui $2, on meter boxes $.'1.75. The Barber Asphalt Company, on the same grade of pavement, bid $l.77'6 a square yard. 50 cents a cubic ynrd for excavation, 4 5 cents for curved curb and 40 cents for straight curb, $ 1 for 0-Inch cast- iron pipe, 50 contB for G-lnch sewer, i $1.30 for 8-lnch cast-iron pipe, 55 cents for 8-lnch Bewer, $25 for cutch-basliiH, $1.75 for meter cases .and $2.50 for meter boxes. On pave ment, the Clark & Ilenery Company was 1 centa a yard lower than the Barber, on excavation 1; cents higher, the Ha me on straight curb, but 5 cents lower on curved curb, the same on 6-Inch cast-Iron and H-lnch sewer pipe, 5 cents higher on 8-inch cnHt-lrnn pipe, 10 cents higher on 8 lnrh sewer pipe, $4 lower on catch basins, 2ft cents higher on me ter cases and $1.25 higher on stand ard meter boxen. The award was made to the Clark- lienory Company, state the city offi cials, because Its specifications pro vide a superior pavement to that specified In the Barber specifications. The Clark-Ilenery specifications Is one part cement, three parts sand and six parts broken rock or gravel. while tho Barber specifications pro vide seven parts or crushrd rock or gravel and Is a weaker concrete. The city engineer estimates the con crete foundation to be laid by Clark - lenery will coat nearly $7000 more than the Barber concrete would have, which nearly equalizes the cheaper excavation price of tho Barber.
