With the exception of the side bordering on the ocean, the proposed county Is rectangular In form, lying about 47 miles north and south, the north end being about 27 miles wide and the south end about 32 miles. The eastern boundary line crosses Lake Creek a few miles east of fJreenleaf, crosses tho Wildcat a short distance east of Walton, and strikes the !mKua a short distnnce below Klkton; the corner of the proposed county being about a mile southwest, ot Klkton; tho lines do not conflict with those wanted by Nesmith, and take all that part of Lane and Douglas counties extending to the coast. The legislative bill provides that the county seat shall be temporarily located at Florence. At the regular election of 1912 the ituestlnn Is to he submitted to the voterH for deci sion. The place receiving the ma jority of nil votes cast shall be the county seat; but if no place receives such majority then another vote shall be taken at the next election to decide between the two places re ceiving the highest number of votes. If tho bill becomes a law the governor Is to appoint a full set of nlftcors from the residents of the county, who shall serve until the next regular election. The olllcers are to receive salaries as follows: Sheriff, $1200; clerk. $1200; asses sor. $900; judge, $000; superinten dent of schools, $100; treasurer, $:t00; commissioners, $3 per day for time actually employed.
