Mullen was pleasantly surprised Sunday upon re ceiving a visit from his brother, Charles Mullen, of Uaker City, whom he had not seen for 36 years. The visitor left this morning for Central Point, where ho will remain for a few days on business and then re turn here. James Inman, of Looking Glass, a farmer by occupation, but better known as a forlorn candidate for the lob now held by William H. Taft, has sued his wife. Bronchitis of Long Standing Claim Victim Kuroute to California , to Visit Daughter. , Mrs. Jennie Whltaker, a passenger on Southern Pacific train No. 15, eu route from Seattle to Oakland, Cat., died in her berth while the train was passing through Cow Creek Canyon Saturday morning. The body was taken oft at Ulendale, and on Sunday it was brought to Roseburg and em balmed. This morning It was shipped to Oakland," where Mtb. Whltaker' I daughter, Mr. J, C. Hammond, lives at 44 4 19th street. Mrs. Hammond was to have met her mother euroute and accompany her to Oakland. Coroner Jewett was called to Glen- dale, but found that au Inquest was unnecessary. Examination proved that Mrs. Whltaker had been suffer ing from a severe attack of bron chttiB and this probably was the cause of her death. She had been visiting with friends In Seattle and at Port land, enroute aouth, she was so weak she had to be carried aboard the train and placed la a berth In the Pullman.
