According to the report of the Southern Pacific Coniiiany received at the offices of the Railroad Commission this morn ing, the net Income of the railroad corporation In Oregon alone for the year ending June HO, wax $2,971, 393.67. The total revenue In Ore gon was $7.01)9,081.23. The total expenses, Including taxes, waB $4, 127,687.ri6. The taxes In this state equaled $1,266,617.32. Tho total earnings of the Southern Pacific outside the state of Oregon as well as within the state for the year ending June 30 were $21,066, 560.83. Dividends were declared equaling $17,336,710.74. Seven per cent on preferred stock was declared and B per cent on the common stock. The report of the Wells Fargo company was also received this morn ing, and the officials have approxi mately estimated the Income from In terstate business In Oregon to have been $278,724.73. This Is the gross Income and the amount paid for, privileges to railroads In Orogou equaled $1 18,589.40. The total operating expenses of Wolls Fargo A Co., outside the state as well as with in the state of Oregon, ending June S0r was $13,060,232.77; operating expenses amounting to $9,664,933. 85; the net revenue was $3,395,298. 72. In a motion for a mandate to affirm the judg ment of the Circuit Court of Mult nomah county In tho case of the State vs. Bom Cochran, Attorney General Crawford this afternoon at tacks tho appointment of Justices Will R. King and W. T. Slater as unconstitutional and void, for the reason, as alleged, that tho Legis lature had no power to add two more judges, nnd tho Governor no author ity to appoint them. Tho motion, which Is signed by J. H. Page, Deputy District Attorney, :ind A. M. Crawford, Attornoy-Gen-nral, reclteB the fact that Justices Robert IOukln and F. A. In .:lud 'ug the separation of Circuit and Supreme Judges Into two classes when the white population of the Htato reaches 200,000 It Is shown that section 10 of the constitution plainly states that the court shall consist of three Justices no more, no less, which the respondent's at torneys In the Cochran case aver Is final and binding upon the Legisla ture. The Cochran case is the St. John local option case, which was decided by the Supreme Court adversely to the city of St. John, the decision be ing to the elTect that the St. John charter Is superior to the local option law and that as a result the city may reg urate Its liquor traffic with out regard to the state law on the subject. The unfortunate man had taken his homes to ihe race and while they were drinking he waa attacked by epilepsy and fell headlong Into the deep water. He was taken out In an unconsclouB condition by persons liv ing nearby, and carried to his home, tie remained In the same condition until his death, over an hour later. He was not drowned, but the fact that his lungs became titled with water probably caused the attack of epilepsy, to which he was subject, to become fatal. He was aged 31 years, 7 months and 10 days. Be cause he tried to remove an electric wire from the roadway to prevent others from being injured, Robert Peako, a 15-year-old school boy, is dead. He lived a few miles norm of hero. He met a woman who had steped on the wire, which had broken and fallen In the roadway. She told him she had been severely shocked and warned hlin to keep away from the wire. Peake and his companion, another boy about the same age, decided that It would be best to remove the charged wire and they hastened to the place. Peake picked up the wire with hi; bare hands. In an Instant the heavy current shot through his body and knocked him to the ground. A moment later his clothing caught Ore.
