Since January 1, 1909, forty-three siates ana territorial legislatures have been In session. Of this num ber, 28 have passed laws pertaining to tuberculosis; eight others have considered such legislation, and in only seven states no measures about consumption were presented. In all 101 laws relating to the prevention or treatment of human tuberculosis were considered and out of this num ber 64 were passed. Of the 64 laws passed, fourteen were in reference to building new stnto Institutions. New state sana toria for tuberculosis will be built in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, where three will he erected, Arkansas. Ore gon, South Dakota, North Dakota and Florida. In New York. North Caro lina, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Hnmpshlre, and Malno, appropria tions have been made for enlarging sanatoria, already being built or in operation. There are now 27 states where such Institutions have been established. Every state east of the .Mississippi, except Illinois. West Vlr glnln, Kentiirky. Louis Knapp, a late pioneer resident of Ke nosha, who erected a series of in scribed monuments In the Kenosha city cemetery to hand down his own derision of the Christian Church, will fall of hlB purpose, as it Is announc ed today that eight monuments which have stood in the cemetery for more than 3D years, and the razing of them will be done In such a man ner that not one of the 20,000 words of Inscriptions on the metallic col umns will remain. For years Knapp worked on the composing of the agnostic inscrip tions on the monuments, and when they were completed they made up one of the most remarkable arraign ments of the Christian religion known to history.
