I f Cottngo Gorve Western Oregon: News of the sad death of William Hhaffer was brought to town Wednes day afternoon, July 21. Deceased was a young fnrmer, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Shaffer, residing G miles north of l.oruno. He was horn in Douglas county und lived for a time at Dlivldc, near 'this city, lie was 19 years of age and leaves, be sides his parents, several brothers. The unfortunate man was struck by a flying chain and hurled 15 feet away. Mr. and Mrs. Hoover, while hurrvlne to the ranch to care for the Injured man. wore memseives badly Injured when their horse ran away, throw ing them both from the carriage. While not eerloiiBly Injured both of them were badly bruised and only escaped death by a miracle.
