Thompson was asleep In a tent at his homo on Mill street, last night, an unknown mnn mnde an unsuccessful attempt to rob him of n sum-of money. Tho man actually secured the trousers, but in doing so he raised the mattress roughly and awoke Mr. Thomjvson, who took in the situation Instantly and called out to his son, sleeping In tho woodshed, several feot away, to bring him a gun. This caus ed the thief to drop the garment without searching It and take to his heels.
