MARSHKIELD, Or., May 27. At
the good roads convention held at
Coquillo City It was duciiled to push
the matter of a better mall road be
tween Coos Day and Uoseburg. The
two stage routes were discussed and
a committee was appointed to inves
tigate and ascertain which road would
be the best to Improve. The com
mittee Is composed of L. A. Koberts,
of Myrtle Point: County Surveyor A.
N. Gould, Stephen (lalller, of Dan
don, and Dr. E. Mlngus, of Marsh
Hold. After deciding which will be the
best route to Improve, the committee
will confer with the Douglas county
officials, with a vlow to Inducing them
to Improve their end of the road.
Much enthusiasm Is shown on the
new road plan and it Is quite likely
that it will bo carried out before an
other winter.

the horse and carriage parade on
Thursday, June 10. He notified
"Pike" Davis, chairman of the Hunt
Club committee, yesterday that he
would try to bring up a large num
ber of Southern Oregon sportsmen
to take part In this street parade, and
that in the decorative scheme he
would show Portland that it isn't the
only town In the world that can raise
good roses. "Roseburg got its name
from its roses," said Alley, "and we'll
show Portland that we can make
