A rollcall by counties at tlie State Orange si-union for the Introduction of resolutions brought a resolution from Columbia county proponing that me people or a county have the now er, by their own Initiative, to ralso or lower the salary of the county's of ficers and make laws of a purely local charactor. This resolution will probably meet with the approval of tue urange. A resolution from Linn county wants the method of holding the lna Islaturo changed so that In January oi me niennini year, a ZD-day session be held for the purpose of Introduc ing bills, no laws to be onactcd at this session. The session then would adjourn to May of the snme year for a 15-day session to consider tho bills Introduced, no bill to bo Introduced at this second session. Three copies of each of the bills Introduced should be mailed to each society In tho state using a seal. A resolution from Union county op poses the amendment allowing the state, or subdivisions of It, to build railroads. The Orange has always stood for government ownership of railroads, so this resolution will like ly find hard sledding. A number of other resolutions of Iosb Importance were Introduced.
