Morgan & Co. to Bolivia have been com pleted, papers having been signed and the transaction legnllzed In the city of La Paz, according to word re ceived here by the acting Consul of Bolivia. This Is the first foreign loan ever negotiated by Bolivia in this coun try and it was obtained by Morgnn & Co. in the face of competition by oth er banking firms and by bankers In Paris and London. The rate of Interest, It is under stood, Is 6 iter cent. Bolivia's Inter nal debt is approximately $3,00,000 and the budget was not sufficient to meet interest coming due on Gov ernment bonds. Ralph Cole, one of Oakland's high school boys, and a very successful young teacher, went to Portland Tuesday. Regarding the disappearance of Prof. Sawyer, of the Oakland schools, developments since Dec. 29, point to the belief that there exists some trouble between the professor atid his people in Pennsylvania and that he may have returned East to straighten the matter up. It 1b known positive ly that there was nothing but har mony between Mrs. Sawyer and the professor, and the shock of his dls- upoarnnce has caused the groatest sorrow to his wife and friends, who ave esteemed him one of the best nd most worthy of citizens; he be ing always ready and willing to do and stnnd for all that Is worthy of a true and good man. His friends be lieve that at some time In the near future he will surely make known to them his place of residence, and that 'though the clouds are now dark nd heavy the sun 1b still shining for him who Is willing to do right iu the future. Erb and her sister, Mrs. Knth erlne llelsel, were acquitted yester day of the murder of Captain J. Clay ton Erb, tho Philadelphia politician, husband of Mrs. Erb. Mrs. Erb and her sister were charged Jointly with murder follow ing the death of the captain at the Erb residence, Red Cables, near here. The prosecution sought to show that Mrs. Erb, who Is a dashing so ciety lender and horsewoman, shot her husband In cold blood. Mrs. Erb on the stand testified that her husband beat her frequently ami that on the night he wos killed she hud culled her sister, Mrs. llel sel. to her rescue. She said MrB. HeiseH sought to Inte-riere and mat her husband turned upon Mrs. neisei. A struggle followed in which Mrs. llelsel secured Captain Erb's revolver and shot him five times.
