Collage Grove Citizens Hold Meeting uu I IX iii iuna. The current Issue of the Cottage Grove Leader, edited by W. C. Con ner, formerly of the Roseburg l'laln- dealer, is devoted mainly to tne pro posed county division scheme being worked by Cottage Grove. It tells of the mass meeting held there last Tuesday evening "to listen to the reading of the bill providing for a new county which was drafted and presented by the Commorclal Club committee, Hon. R. M. Veatch, O. L. Rues, C. II. Uurkholdor, J. F. Spray and C E. Stewart, assisted by Attor neys J. B. Medley and .1. C. Johnson, and which will be presented for pas sage In the Oregon legislature which convenes next Monday at Salem. This hill fixes the boundary lines for the new county, provides for county or ganization, flxus salary of ofllcers at from 1100 to $1200 per year, in fact, was drafted from the now Hood River county bill." In relation to that part of the proposed new county of NeBinlth, which they want to cut off from Douglas county, that paper designates the following very indefinite boundar ies. After describing tholr line on the Lane county sldo to the eastern boundary of that county they pro ceed: "Thence south following the present county boundary lino to the headwaters of the North Umpnua River, thonce wost down the north Umpnua river In Douglas county to the Willamette Meridian, thence northwest nenrly following the pres ent boundary line to a point north east of Drain, ithenco west following a section line between Drain and Leona, but nearer the lattor place leaving Drain In Douglas county, thence to a point northeast of Scotts burg, thence north to tho place of he glnulng, on the Lane county lini about 30 miles from the coast." That paper says their proposed now county will thus have an nrer of 1906 siiuaro miles, 71)04 popula tlon and an assessed valuation 01 $4,915,933.
