GOOD PROGRAM AT THE CRES
CENT TODAY.
The management of the Crescent
has secured the famous picture "The
Life of Abraham Lincoln."
This subject pictures the most Im
portant actions and historic move
ments of the Orcat Emancipator from
boyhood Bo his death. It brings be
fore you almost a living Lincoln, the
film manufacturers having engaged
for hiB part, the famous portrayor of
the great president, Mr. Logan Paul,
the first actor that ever Imperson
ated Abraham Lincoln. It shows you
Lincoln as a boy; his father, Thomas
Lincoln, th frontiersman; and
Nancy Hanks Lincoln, the mother.
The birthplace, the now famous log
cabin la Kentucky: From the lcj
cabin home you are brought by wa
gon journey to the new home In Il
linois, where Abe grows to be the
strongest youth and the best rail
splitter and wrestler In that section
At that time he could barely read and
write. Books were scarce and cost
money. Abe worked overtime for
one and he studied that book by the
light of the cabin fireplace. The
family could not afford candle or oil.
He secured a Job as clerk in a coun
try store, which was about the only
lob he didn't perform well, for while
he was reading law with his feet
locked upon the stove, the vUlage
gang ate his dried apples and stole
his crackers. At last as a Joke, they
stole his book and Abe had to wrestle
lack Armstrong, the best wrestler In
New Salem, to get It back. War
was declared, and they made Abe
their captain, but we soon find Abe
back looking for odd Jobs here and
there. One day he walked Into
Springfield and thoy flay he didn't
have a dollar. He went out of Spring
Held to become president of the Unit
ed States.
Isn't this character Interesting?
If you are old enough to have looked
upon Lincoln In real life, you will see
a duplicate of him that will make
vout set up and rub your eyes. Yes,
and perhaps thrill you and bring a
lump Into your throat. Then the
final scenes the tragedy of a nation
the visit to Ford's theatre the
plaudits of the people, and then the
msanslnaUon all Is pictured to you,
all Is real. It is one of the greatest
historical subjects ever produced.
"The New Maid," Is the title of
the excellent subject to be shown
with the Lincoln picture; also two
Illustrated songs by "Wick." "Un
der the Evening Star." and "When
Jack Comes Sailing Home."
Don't forget, Monday and Tuesday
only.
