road from here to the Illinois Valley
and from now on a force of men will

road will be built is now practically
an assured fact and Mr. Collins, the
chief engineer, states that the people
need not be a bit worried about the
road as he Intends (o build it. He Is

ness and is asking no odds of any
one. Real estate men who have hesi

linois valley owing to the distnuce
from market are now going into the

arrangements are being made to
take options on some of the mining

G. M. Thorp, the Myrtle Creek
merchant, has just bought from Ike
Gardner, block No. 13, in Gardner's
addition to South Drain.
Grandpa Perkins went to Snlcin on

home of his son, W. T. Perkins who

Mrs. M. J. Cellors recovered suf
ficiently so as to be able to ninko the
trip to Wyoming last week. She

A. A. Chase, of Post Falls, Idaho,
spent a couple of "weeks In Drain
last winter and bought a lot In Skel
ley's addition. In a letter to M
R. Ryan this week Mr. Chase says he
is anxious to return to Drain, which
he considers hns the very best elf
mate in the United Slntos. He says
that the heavy frosts and grasshop
pers have ruined all vegetation nnd
crops in that portion of Idaho. Non
pareil.
