E. D. Parks has sold the Lemmei
farm of about 112 acres on Deei
Creek to Mrs. Hermann Marsters foi
14,000. Mr. Parka purchased the

later Mr. "Lemmer wanted to buy 1
back but Mr. Parks would not sell.
Tula is a part of the old 640-acre do
nation land claim of the late Rev
Wm. A. Willis, which place 1b now
subdivided Into five good farms and
is occupied by as many families.
G. E. Upton, formerly of Portland
came down from beyond West Fork
Wednesday. He reports an extensive
forest fire near Nine Mile haa been
burning for several days. The for
est rangers are now thought to have
the fire under control. Mr. Upton
was a member of the Oregon rifle
team which participated In the na
tional military shoots the past two
vears. This year he will go to the
innual militia encampment at Am
erican Lake with Co. D., of this
:lty.
Viewing the Deer Creek and Lur
ley roads, which was to have been
done on Monday and Tuesday of this
week, has been postponed until Mon
day and Tuesday, August 10 and 11,
on account of the absence in Portland
of R. B. Dixon, one of the county
road viewers. The two roads to be
located on Deer Creek will be view
ed out and surveyed on Aug. 10, and
the one down Buckhorn Creek, be
yond Lurley, on Aug. 11.
A favorable report has been re
ceived on the proposed rural free de
livery mail route from Dlxonville, via
Lurley to Fall Creek, thence down
near Glide and return via Oak Creek
to the starting point. This route
will supply 58 families who are now
without mall facilities, aa well aa a
large numbers of others whoso pres
ent facilities are inadequate. An in
npector Is looked for soon to go over
the proposed new route and make a
flnal report.

Commercial Club will receive sealed
bids until Monday, August 3rd.
1908, at 4:15 p. m., for the construc
tion of an Exhibit Building at the
Southern Pacific Passenger Depot at
Roseburg, Oregon, In accordance
with the drawings and specifications
of Y. D. Henslll, architect, of Eu
gene. Oregon, copies of which may
be seen at the office of the Secretary.
All bids must be accompanied by a
certified check for 10 per cent of
the contract price, and said building
must be completed within sixty days
from date. The Board reserves the
right to reject any and all bids. En
velopes containing proposals to be
endorsed "Proposals for Construc
tion of Exhibit Building" and ad
dressed to the Asst. Secretary of the
Roseburg Commercial Club, Rose
burg. Oregon.
