ed and able to give valuable assist
ance picking cherries,
The cherry season is now over
Mr. Marsh shipped nearly "00 boxes
and Mr. Best about 70. Six of
mven boys were employed picking
and the same number of girls pack
ing. Mr. K. V. Tillson and Rev. J. E.
Korsyth, of Rosehurg, made a pleas
ant call on Mr. Marsh during cherry
pucking
Mr. Kngels, of Uoseburg, made a
business trip to our village Monday.
He expresses himself as highly
pleased with our country.
A number of the young people
spent the Fourth in Hrockway, but
those who remained at home were
very pleasantly entertained in the
afternoon and evening by Mr Hrlsbln
and family, who served ice cream
and cake and furnished a generous
supply of fireworks for the evening.
All report having a Hue time, it Is
said that one person contributed
much to (he pleasure of several
voung ladles by taking them buggy

Fourth of July Prank. .Makes Royal

When a playmate saw several large
firecrackers In Royal Carter's pocket
here, on the Fourth, he could not re
sist the temptation to set the fuses
on Hie Royal is now an Invalid. On
his leg Is a burned place larger than
a saucer, very deep and just as pain
ful. Young Carter is aged 13.
Wilbur Stocks, also aged 13, walk
ed up against a kicking horse on the
same day. The animal's two feet
passed one each Bide of the boy's
head and in returning pulled him
down, Injuring his Bide.
A freak chicken, which was not a
result of the Fourth, was exhibited
Saturday by Morris Swank a local
blacksmith. It had two heads and
three pyea.
