William Horn respondent, vs. United
Slates Mining Securities & Trust Com
pany, appellant, from Douglas county;
J. W. Hamilton, judge; reversed and
dismissed; opinion by Chief Justice
Wolverlon. It Is held that where a
laborer ceased work on November 7
and filed his lion on January 7, he Is
one day laie ucder the statute requiring
that the lien be tiled within (todays
after he had ceased to labor. Another
case of the same title was atllrmed.
Horn got the decision In the lower
court. He filed a compluint against
the above company, and recovered de
cision through failure of the company

Portland Telegram; His pet wild
cat having been stolen and believing
that it might be put on exhibition on
the trail at the Lewis & Clark Fair,
James Crouch, of Oakland, Or., came
to Portland this morning in search of
the missing animal. With the aid of
Detective Rosing, a wildcat was located
near the Fair grounds, but after ex
amining It for nearly an hour Crouch
docided that it was not his. The
animal answered closely to the de
scription, and would eat from the hand,
tmtit would not recognize the name of
Bob," the name of the stolen animal.

John R. Sutherlin has filed a suit in J
the circuit court here against Thos. C. -Bloomer,
proprietor of the Hotel Mc--Chilian,
to foreclose a mortgage on the
entire hotel equipment in order to
satisfy a promissory note for $5000, on
whioh Mr. Sutherlin alleges only
32785.14 has been paid. The note was
executed by Mr. Bloomer in Mr.
Sutherlin's favor on March 31, 11)04.
According to Mr. Sutherlin's com
plaint, the note was to he paid in
regular monthly Installments of $300,
with interest, but that after Feb. 18,
1005, the defondant ceased making pay
ments. C. I. Leavengood has sued Stella Ab-
sblre to recover $125, alleged to be due
for locating defendant on a quarter
seotion of government land. Plaintiff
has attached the following property of
defendant: Lot 0 of block 8.1, Third
Southern Addition to Roseburg.
