Statistics compiled by the Bureau of Statistics of i the Department of Commerce and La bor show that the exports of manufac tures in the fiscal year just ended amounted to $54.'lt020,2U7, as against $452,415,021 in the preceding year, 84iW,351,7G lu 11)00 and $183,505,74:1 in 1805. The exports for the past fiscal year were not only( the largest on rocord, but are in excess of the combined ex ports of all articles in the centennial yea.', 1780, and nearly $140,000,000 more than the total imports and ex ports of the country at the close of the Civil War.
