Jennings ranch near Gaston, where Harry McDonald, aged between 33 and 4(1, committed suicide this forenoon after terrorizing the family through the entire night. McDonald came hero with the Jen nings' several years ago, having been picked up by th 'in In the SisKiyous while they wer enroute to Oregon from California. Uo worked on their farm near Gastu i until last February, when he loft, lie returned to the ranch Sunday night, snapped a revolver twice at tho hired man aud compelled Mrs. Jonnings to march up and down tho highway In front of the house. When a sboritT's posse attempted to arrest McDonald he barricaded him self in the house, and blew tbo top of t with his head off. Before killing himself McDonald had written a note saying: "Kor the Jen nings family. Good-bye to all." Pinned to the note was a printed extract, "Jealousy." While the Jennings are reticent, it is supposed that McDonald was enamored of Mrs. Jennings and that hie suit was not encouraged. It is July Weather. The highest tempera ture was 102 deg. on 23, 1891; tho low est temperature was 40 deg. on 15, 1S87. Average precipitation for the month, 0.37 inches. Average number of days .01 of an inch or more, 3. The greatest monthly precipita tion was 2.20 inches in 1SS6; the least monthly precipitation was 00 inches in 1896.
