The Post today states that two Russian government agents sailed Saturday for America to purchase 40,000 tons of steel rails for double trrcklng the trans Siberian railway. RUSSIAN FLEET SIGHTED. Saigon, May 1. The Russian Baltic fleet is lying off Port Dagal, 40 miles north of Kamranh bay. A French squadron has been mobilized in order to enforce neutrality. TROUBLE IN WARSAW. ' London, May 1. A dispatch from Warsaw says a coLfliot between citizens and troops there this afternoon resulted in 60 casualties. More bloodshed may follow. Terrific Race With Death. General Fitzhugh Lee, who was stricken on a train enroute to. Washington yesterday, sank steadily during the evening, and died about 11 o'clock last night. None of his family was present at the bed side. (Fitzhugh Lee was a nephew of General Robert. E. Lee and was born in Fairfax county, Virginia In 1835, grad uated from West Point in 1850, joined the cavalry servloe in Confederate army in 1861. In 1896 he was appointed consul general at Havana by President Cleveland. In 1809 he was appointed major-general of volunteers In command of the 7th corps and was stationed at Tampa, Flordla. His command took no part in the Cuban war, but when peace was declared he returned to Cuba as military governor of the province and city of Havana. A widow and five children survive General Lee.) . Blakely returned this morn ing from an extended absence in the east. He reports the country in a very prosperous condition and plenty of cap ital is ready for investments on this coast if a proper showing of existing Conditions can be made. This brings the Roseburg papers to subscribers there one day earlier than heretofore. The semi-annual report of County Clerk Z. N. Agee, published in today's Review, is one of the most complete document, of the kind Issued from that otlice for a long time. A thorough ab stract of all the outstanding county warrants has been made, and the actual interest computed thereon up to April 1, 1905. For a number of years past, the amount of outstanding warrants and interest have been merely approxi mated, and as a result of such loose methods there had grown to be a wide discrepancy In the figures and what wus the actual condition. On the first of last July the estimate was cut down $30,000, and it was found upon making the recent abstract, that it was still a little too high. In the Federal court, this morning, Henry W. Miller, under indictment for subornation of perjury in conneotton with land frauds In Southern Oregon, chained his for mer plea of not guilty to that of guilty. Sentence was suspended by Judge Bel linger. Miller Is under Indictment on a similar charge In California. The county grand jury convened to day to Investigate the municipal scandals and charges of graft preferred against the city councilman of Port land. BREWERS STRIKE. 1 Seattle brewers are on a strike to en force the demands of the unions. County Warrants Called. By attachment with the telegraph wires, these Instruments may be used by trainmen from any place along the line.
