her as far as possible. I am glad she
is so fond of the Mlokeys. The actioD
of the governor certainly does him
credit.
Like all the Mickey family he take&
in the humor. of the situation at a
glance. He is in the position of the
boy who, after listening to a record of
the virtues of a long-faced minister, as
told by the minister himself, aa follows:
"I never played marbles I never
tossed pennies I never said a bad
word I never told a lie in my life?',
in tones of amazement and pity, said,
"Jlminy Cricket! you've had no fun at
all, have you"? . The governor is right.
Let Christian Science alone. Give It
chance, also allthe rope neccessary,
and ,It will do the rest. What would
we do without something to rub us on
the funny bone? Byandbywe will
have some other monstrosity and can
dispense with it, bub not now.
I also agree with her statements
about medical men and medical knowl
edge. Myl how the doctors must
squirm. Think of it Three years at
high school, four years at university,
and four years at medical studies, and
they know nothing. That's so anyhow.
Ca3toroll is just as unpleasant now
as when my old hat was new. And
then, how ignorant theso medical men
are in the simplest matter of finance.
Why don't they take some lessons of
Mother Eddy? All Christian Scientists
know If their patients pay in advance,
the curcs'are accelerated. If the "meds"
had a cinch of this kind on their
patlonts, there would be no trouble in
collecting outstanding bil's. Certainly
should any person desire to make a fool
of himself by submitting himself to a
Christian Science quack, who gradu
ated In the healing art after eight
lectures, no one should stand In the
way. liut some people are so con
structed by nature that It.is hnpo:siblo
to do this, as their Creator has saved
them the trouble, and they are lawful
prey to the first fool-killer they meet.
If a person has not common sense, no
power tn the heaven above or In the
earth beneath will ever give It to
him.
Lastly your correspondent makes
the statement that Christian Science
has cured diseases, Quite so. Cer
tainly, the neglected to sta-e, how
ever, how the cures wero accomplished.
The little boy who was set to write
an essay on pins was more specific. He
reached his climax in this way. "Pins
save hundreds of lives every year by
people not swatlerln' of "'em." And
in this way it Is true Christian Science
saves hundreds of lives every year. I
hope your correspondent will excuse
this method of treatment' as it is not
likely she meant to be taken seriously.

than Mrs. Eddy on this subject, and
his advice was, "Though we or an
augel from heaven should preach unto
you any gospel other than that which
we have preached let him be anathema
tized". When people depart from
God's word no one knows where they

Kiddle is quite proud of her eighth
grade pupils who passed the recent

Hon. F. W. Brown, the democratic
candidate, waselcctednayorof Lincoln
last week by more than six hundred
majority, says the Commoner, He Is
the Ur:t person bo be elected on a
straight democratic ticket in ' many
years. Two of his associates on the
ticket came within three hundred of
election, and tha largest majority cast
for anyone on the republican ticket
this year was about twelve hundred.
This Is a very considerab'e democratic,
gain. During the past eight years the
republican papers have been in the
habit of adding. "This Is Mr. Bryan's
home" to the announcement of republi
can success in the city; It is to be hoped
that the election of a democrat mayor
will not cause the republican editors to
forget that Mr. Bryan still receives his
mall at Lincoln.
