Howard Wardrlp has returned to Myrtle Creek after an extended trip to California. Miss Myrtle Willis has accepted a position at GrantB Pass and left Mon day evening for that city. F, V. hampine has received the sad news that bis mother is seriously ill at her home in Kovillo, South Dakota.- B. F. Scaelfe, of Sailor Springs, 111., has written Noble Andrews that he will arrive in Myrtle Greek Sunday evening. Mr. Scaelfe has visited in Myrtle Creek before and is well pleased with this vicinity. Grant Kelley and Mark Smith re turned Wednesday evening from a two months sojourn in Portland and other northern points. They say vegetation around Myrtle Creek is about a month ahead of any other place they have been in, in their travels. To show what can be done in the Myrtle Creek valley, J. A. Willis brought a quantity of Alfalfa and Vetch to this office Wednesday even ing, either bad attained a length of 41 feet. Mr. Willis has been cutting feed from the same for more than a month. He also brought In a box of ripe straw berries that were large and well flavored. In a day or two Mr. Willis will begin shipping strawberries by the orate. The Odd Fellows of Myrtle Creek and neighboring towns, will give a public picnic here April 2(1, 11)05. Rev. P. D. Gardener, of Junction City, will be the speaker of the day. Brownell aud George Soren son were arraigned in Judge Bellinger's court today to plead to various indict ments found against them by the late Federal grand jury. Each filed pleas lu abatement, which It Is understood will await the fate of the one filed by Senator Mitchell, to be decided by Judge Bollinger next Monday.
