E. church of this city, preached his farewell sermon Sunday. Next Friday he will leave with his family for his new field of duty at Mendota, III. The present pastor at that place, Rev. W. C. Reuter, has been transferred to Roseburg. He will preach his initial sermon here on Easter Sunday, April 23. Prof. H. F. Wagner, Gale Sanders and Frank Berry had an exciting on counter with a bull last Saturday even ing while returning home on their bicycles from a fishing trip up Deer Creek. They were attacked by the animal as they were riding through a field. The bull first charged on young Sanders, striking his wheel and up setting him and Prof. Wagner Im mediately dismounted and went to the aid ot Sanders. He faced the bull and received the second charge of the animal by holding bis wheel in front of him. Tho animal withdrew and then charged upon youog Berry who was making for the fence. Berry reached the fence first and got out of harm's way. In the meantime, Wagoer and Sanders took advantage of the oppor tunity to make their escape. Al Honson, a transient Norwegian, was taken to the Insane asylum from here by Sherlll McClallen Sunday, pur suant to an order of committment made hy the county court on Saturday. Hon son arrived here last week and' was found waoderlog almlossly around. When questioned as to the object ot his presence In the city, Honson re plied that, he was being pursued by men wbo sought to kill him and he was looking for a place to die. Honson is not violent and with proper treat ment at the asylum will probably recover.
