Mr. Ira B. Bennett, of Albuquerque,
New Mexico, is visiting with Mr. Ueo.
A. Steel at Winchester. Mr, Bennett
thinks the great natural resources and
the fine products of Oregon's fields,
farms and orchards Bhould be far more
extensively advertised abroad. In his
opinion the state legislature would do
a wl6e and profitable thing by appro-
priating JoO.OOO for such a purpose
that such an investment would bring
large returns. It has been demon
strated that Oregon apples and prunes
are the finest in the world, yet but the
smallest number of people are aware of
these facts. The very equitable
climate here would also attract thous
ands of settlers were its advantages
properly made known.

Electric Road on the Bay
North Bend Harbor: The MarsliGeli
Electric Light Company has made ap
plication to the council of Empire for a
franchise to run Its wires into that
town. It 1b believed that this marks
the beginning of a greater development
In this line on the peninsula.
The North BendiPowor Company,
through Us representative, P. M. Fried
berg, has made application to the town
council of Marshllcld for the Bale of
electricity within the limits of the In
corporation. It Is understood that this is part of
a general plan to extend the business
of this company. It aUo iociudes tho
possibility of furnishing power for aa
electric streetcar line.
It is probable that tho North Bend
Power Company and Messrs F. B.
Waite and J. N. Shahan will co-operate
In the matter of building a street cur
line between MarshuVU and North
Bend. A sopa'a'.e franchise will be
required lor the car line.
The North Bond Power Company
will soon begin the orectlon of Its new
plant at the Porter mill. It will also
extend Its polo lino Into Marsh field and
be prepared to furnlbh light and power
to those who may wish to patronl.e It.
