H. G. Sonnemann returned home to Glendale from Salem, Satur day evening. It was largely through his efforts that the Bohemia and Loon Lake districts were saved to Douglas county. Miss Lutle Sacry leaves in a few days for San Jose, Calif., to visit with her cousin, Miss Edna Mackey. Her place in the central 'phone office will be filled by Miss Janle Burss, sister of Mrs. Dr. J. P. Johnson. Engineer J. B. Waltewentto Albany Sunday to take the run between that city and Lebanon. His wife and son wilUoln him in a few days. Mr. Waite has made Roseburg his home for the past eighteen years. E. Harlow was acquitted of the charge of larceny in Justice Long's court Saturday afternoon. Harlow was accused of robbing Robt- Sweeney, a miner who came here from Glendale lart week and went on a spree. Inabili ty of Sweeney to tell a coherent story tothe jury Is said to be chiefly respon sible for Harlow's acquittal. The Douglas Coimty tax roll will be turned over to Sheriff McClallen for collection on March 1st. Taxes will become delinquent the first Monday in April. If the full amount Is paid on or bofore the 15th of March a rebate of 3 per cent will be allowed: if one half of above taxes are paid on or before the iirst Monday of April, the time for pay ingthe remaining half will be extended to the Drst Monday of October: if not so paid and become delinquent, a penalty of 10 per cent and 12 per cent interest will be added. Dr. Gray and family gained many friends during their resi dence among us. The funeral of Miss Abble Parrott, held yesterday at the M. E. church in this city, was very largely attondod, the assemblage far exceeding the capacity of the building. The services were conducted by Revs. Frank L. Moore and Geo. H. Bennett.
